09/2023 - Updated to fix issues caused by World Update 14 and other minor bugs.
05/2023 - Updated with re-paved and re-painted taxiway and ramp, as seen in new satellite imagery.
The old version remains available just because I like it too. However, please note that after World Update 14, the old version no longer aligns correctly with the satellite imagery.
The city of Uzhhorod is located on the river Uzh in western Ukraine, at the border with Slovakia and not far from the Carpathian mountains. The airport is situated in the westernmost part of the city, with the runway beginning just 90 meters from the Slovakian border. Planes must use Slovak airspace for most takeoffs and landings, which is permitted by a special agreement between the two countries. Windrose Airlines provides service to Kyiv-Boryspil on ATR-72 turboprops, and general aviation and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine are also regular users of the airport.
The runway is over 2000 meters (6500 feet) long, however power lines and urban structures immediately to the East require the use of a displaced threshold, shortening the fully usable length of the runway to about 1400 meters (4600 feet). Due to the obstructions and noise abatement concerns, all departing traffic must take off using Runway 28. Aircraft landing in Uzhhorod must use Runway 10, except for helicopters and light aircraft which are capable of remaining within Ukrainian airspace during a missed approach. The runway is illuminated and has approach lights which actually cross the Slovakian border, but there is no ILS.
This scenery incorporates some custom airport vehicles and requires the Modifly Model Library to be able to see all static objects. At the present time it does not include custom terminal buildings (maybe someday...). I also recommend using the Powerlines and Solar Farms addon in conjunction with this airport.
