The "Lanceri Neri" were an aerobatic team of the Italian Air Force founded in 1957, they went from reserve patrol of the Diavoli Rossi to official team in 1959, the year in which they simultaneously ceased their activity.
The Italian Air Force used the Canadian-built version of the North American F-86 Saber in the Saber Mk.4 version. These aircraft arrived in Italy in 1957 after having been used for a couple of years by the RAF in Germany and after a complete overhaul.
