Sydney Airport, Nova Scotia 1.4 CYQY
JA Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport is a regional airport located in Reserve Mines in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. The airport serves the Cape Breton Regional Municipality and the surrounding areas of Cape Breton Island
This is my First Blender scenery and its far from finished, that said i wanted to at least release what i have made so far as its At least more accurate then the default scenery included with msfs. READ PLEASE MAKE SURE TO REORDERED THIS SCENERY PACK i needed to my self to make it work.
Updates! Updates! Updates.
I Still need to figure out how to remove the lights that have no street lamps attached to them arround the airport parking lot. sooner then later
Its my first 50 hours of blender and MSFS SDK it wont be my last i really enjoying Making blender modles and MSFS and Would love to make a career out of making assets for the sim i love the most!
Im not asking for any donations But im always looking for work so message me if you have any for me. Consider this be my resume While watcing my mod and my skills grow with time.
This is far from perfect and 100% Accurate i know But i must start some where so i picked close to home. I plan on expanding from there as The default scenery for Nova Scotia is pretty AI generated by default im going by topography and pictures so i know im going to be Way off but from memory looks way more accurate for flying into sydney! I also added lights to the tarmack as well and will fix them as i go. size height ect.... I started this project as theres no pay ware for this im shocked that the xplane guys did not release it already as they had a beautiful one made for xplane a few years back for CYQY i mean Beautiful. and no i did not just copy and past theres way way better then mine. so Tribute to them as well to insprie me. Well that made me dive into trying to add a light or 2 into the airport . the next thing you know im learning blender! and soon after that im sitting at the airport i made in the sim and theres no better feeling then that. As i know that with time and effort can make grate things happen! FSX was around for like 20 years FS2020 will be only better 40 years from now!
See you in the next update In about 100 Hours or so!
Status update for March 14, 2024: Im Praying that my textures work when i import this into msfs Im sure it will as its Exporting the gtlf no problem. still trying to wrap my head around everything and figure out what works. I added some teasr Pics for the next upcomming update.
The Next update Should be getting closer to the quality im looing for yet still no where even close to compleation.
So textures i was having a hard time with and Still have not figured out how to texture round objects as of yet.
I Would love if some one can tell me if its possable to Bring Daz modles Genisis 9 and 8 to be exact with there textrues into msfs? Reguardless when i export them the microsoft exporter does export with no errors but no daz character is visable Im assuming its got to do with the complex node tree in under the shader tab has somithing to do with it. I would love to really bring this to life and this is not a busy area so putting lots of detail in a small airport should not impact prefromance. There does not seem to be a difinitive guide so its all trial and error and at this time Now i think i have the textures on at least flat surfaces figured out I can move forward with filling the scene with clutter and life
Also is there a eayser way Then compleatly starting over every time when make a changes one of the biggest discouragement is when i half to place all asobo and community assets all over again Cant seem to just replace my previous package modle lib folder with the lastet builds. Edit i may have just answered one of my questions perhaps i should just rename it and add a new modle and replace it that way eyes roll well ill try that but yea feel free to share any insite on importing daz into blender and then into msfs and the above as mentioned let me know if how i can speed up my workflow so i can get back to the importan stuff Making scenery and learning blender.
On the map it's located in Kazakhstan! Hello Borat! 😊

Hey! Excited to see how this project goes! I'll check this airport out later on and take some screenshots for the User Gallery if that helps. For transparent windows, you should use the msfs exporter, and then you'll have to change the alpha, along with the transparency mode (i think that's what it's called) to alpha blend. You'll also have to set the material to msfs glass beforehand, as that is best for windows. If you want it to be extra fancy you can then place a texture on top of the windows for scratches and whatever, although I think that's more for aircraft. Nice job on this first project!
