This is a fictional representation of N661US wearing Northwest Orient colors. In actuality, this plane was delivered in the "bowling shoe" style livery. It took its madien flight on April 29, 1988 as a testbed for Boeing and registered N401PW. After 8 months of testing it was re-registered and delivered to Northwest. It has the distinction of being the very first and last 747-400 to fly passengers. It went into service with Northwest on January 26, 1989 and was absorbed into Delta's fleet when Northwest ceased operations in 2009. It flew its very last flight on September 8, 2015 from Honolulu to Atlanta.
This plane is also immortalized in a Mayday episode because of the events of Northwest Flight 85 in 2002. Due to a broken power control unit, the rudder became useless and the plane nearly unflyable. Thanks to the skill of the pilots, it landed safely using differential engine thrust to control the plane. Despite being out of service, N661US has not been scrapped. It is presently on display at Delta's Flight Musuem in Atlanta.
Thanks to marioart for the orginal textures on this plane. It lacks weathering and details like fin and nose gear numbers. Perhaps this may inspire a talented artist to add those finer details.
