Llanddwyn Island (Ynys Llanddwyn in Welsh) is a small island off the south west coast of Anglesey, Wales, UK. It is actually only an island at high tide, but is accessible on foot at low tide, and is a very popular tourist destination in the north of Wales.
The name Llanddwyn means "Church of St. Dwynwen". Dwynwen (pronounced "doo-een-wen") was the 5th century daughter (one of 24) of Prince Brychan of Brycheiniog (modern day Brecon), who fell in love with a young man named Maelon, but rejected his advances as her father forbade the marriage having promised her to someone else. Dwynwen, distraught by her love for Maelon, prayed that she would fall out of love with him. After falling asleep, she was visited by an angel who gave her a potion designed to erase her memory of Maelon and turn him into a block of ice.
God then gave Dwynwen three wishes. Her first wish was for Maelon to be thawed. The second wish was that God meet the hopes and dreams of true lovers, and the third was that she would never marry. All three wishes were fulfilled, and as a mark of her thanks, Dwynwen devoted herself to God's service for the rest of her life.
Dwynwen became a nun and left for the island of Anglesey, and built a church. The remains of the church can still be seen today. St. Dwynwen is the Welsh patron saint of lovers - the Welsh equivalent of St. Valentine, and her saint's day is celebrated on 25th of January.
This mod replaces the stock scenery (autogen buildings) on the island with custom-built models of:
- Tŵr Mawr (Large Tower) Lighthouse
- Tŵr Bach (Small Tower) Lighthouse
- Two boathouses
- Pilot's Cottages
- The ruined church
- St. Dwynwen's Cross
- Celtic Cross
Nice little scenery, island exploration around the UK is one of my favourite things to do in the sim.

I think that row of cottages is where they made a "going back in time" tv programme recently to show how they used to live.
