Grand Terrus Airstrip for MSFS
LFTG in MSFS but known as LF0524
Version 1.2
NOTAM : after MSFS Sim Update 5 and hotfix, I was experiencing CTD on landing with almost all my own sceneries. This was due to secondary start on runway being disabled. Now everything should be OK.
--Description--
Grand Terrus is an "altisurface" located in France, in the south of the Alps (Département des Hautes-Alpes), not far from Gap.
It is privately owned but open to mountain pilots.
The approach is interesting. Downwind is right hand, parallel to the valley, and you have to go behind a hill, loosing direct sight with the airfield. If everything is OK, you regain visual contact with the airfield in final.
Trees and power lines are on the path to the threshold so you need to maintain perfect slope.
Usually on take-off you turn sharply to the left in the valley.
--The scene--
It's a complete rebuilt of the default airfield. I used default assets as well as few others from Beekay's and trfsto's one.
The container on the upper platform is really there IRL (maybe a little bit longer).
--Installation--
Delete any previous installed version of Grand Terrus from your "Community" folder
Just unzip and drop the "sbworks-airport-lf0524-grandterrus" folder into your "Community" folder of MSFS.
Make sure to have the following libraries installed as well:
- "Windy things" library (https://fr.flightsim.to/file/14024/windy-things) to be able to see the windsock.
- "Beekay-Pack1" library (https://fr.flightsim.to/file/8887/beekay-pack1)
--What's new--
v1.2
Removed the Airport Services definition files that caused services to disappear from not only this airfield (as intended) but also all the airports in the region or even worldwide (bug from SU5).
So now you may see marshaller or pushback here even if it's not realistic at all, waiting for this situation to be corrected by Microsoft/Asobo.
v1.1
Reworked to make it compatible with Sim Update 5
v1.0
-fixed runway start points
-changed the default windsock to Windy Things' one
-added some assests
-removed ground services
v0.9
initial release

It's my very first scenery for MSFS so don't hesitate to tell me what you think about it. Comments & critics welcome!
Thanks!

I love small airfields especially with a special approach, this one is fun.
To the pilots who actually fly here in real life, why such a approach around a hill without sight on the rw until final?
Coming from the west bit uphill works great in the sim, what is different on the real location?
Made a vid of the alternative procedure.

Happy flying!!

Thanks!
Concerning your question about a west approach, honestly I don't know but several aspects are to be taken into account such as slope, overflying properties/houses, power lines, possibility to go around, etc...
Happy flights!

I would be happy if you make an LFTM scene

Why not indeed! But not in a near future I'm afraid.
