Bushtalk Radio is a community driven project with the aim to fill the world of MSFS with thousands of interesting landmarks, POIs and local radio stations! Each POI has a unique audio tour that is automatically played based on your in-game location.

We have audio tours for all in-game POIs (including all World Update POIs) as well as thousands of community created content with more being added every day: national parks, forests, islands, active volcanoes, historical battles - there's something for everyone.

Users can add custom locations and write their own audio tours. Just write an interesting, witty script and we'll create the audio tour for you. Not the creative type? Autogenerate one with our Wikipedia Import tool, we won't judge you. We want to introduce players to amazing locations around the world. Add them as part of your next bush trip or fly aimlessly and stumble into something special.

This addon allows you to connect to Bushtalk Radio from inside your cockpit. Users of the old external client should upgrade to this instead.

Geting started with Bushtalk Radio

Make an account at https://bushtalkradio.com and log in. Make sure this browser window stays open (do not minimise it) as the audio tours are played through your browser in the background.
Download this client and drag and drop the folder into your Community folder
Download Bushtalk Radio Landmarks pack and drop the folder into your Community folder. This will allow you to see the POIs in-game and will be updated monthly with the latest community submissions. This isn't mandatory but it helps.
Once in your cockpit, open the Bushtalk Radio client from your cockpit toolbar and log in. You are now tuned in to Bushtalk Radio. Please note that since the last Sim Update, toolbar windows cannot run in the background so you will have to keep this window open/minimised.
Look for places you want to explore on our website, we tell you the most convenient airport to depart from, or make your own bush trip! The audio tours will play automatically as you approach a landmark.

Is there a way to remember credentials when I first start the sim?

Navigate to the file: bushtalkradio-client\html_ui\InGamePanels\BushtalkClient\CustomPanel.js
Open in notepad
Add your credentials in between the double quotes as instructed

I see hundreds of hours in my future just exploring the world. This has got to be one of the best addons for MSFS!

Missing sound balancing as other stated. I would suggest adding a skip button in the browser, or the option to limit number of words/sentences/time of each playback as they sometimes get in the way.

Still clear 5* for the idea and very cool execution.

I like this addon. However, I find that whilst I hear the BushTalk Radio and I can hear ATC, I am unable to hear any aircraft sounds. If I remove the two folders from the Community website and restart MSFS2020 then the a/c sounds return.
So whilst I like this addon I will not be using it until I can hear the a/c audio as well.
I am using MSFS2020 vs 133.8.0

Hi, being a flightsimulator fan for allmost 35 years ( I started with FS4 in 1989), I find Bushtalk a very nice add, and as a Brussels city guide I had really the intention to use it to the full extend, and I would have been glad to add somme interesting info on other Belgium located POI's. Unfortunately , after having installed the add, my system crashes all the time, so I had to remove it. Hope you guys have more succes !

Enjoying this mod very much; thanks for the hard work here! I was wondering if there is a way to turn on an option to "Point at" (or highlight in some way in-game) at the audio tour currently enabled so I can find it on the ground easier? I often miss the exact location on the ground, often flying around in circles in order to find it. (Hit or miss in success at times.) Thanks!

This is like Waymarking and the Historic Marker Database of flight all rolled up into one. Most people fly all over the world or even in there own areas and never really know what interesting or historic places are just right under their wings. I highly recommend Bushtalk Radio to anyone, especially those interested in history. The setup is fairly straight forward if you follow the directions. As of yet, I haven't had any major issues such as the sim crashing as has been reported so perhaps that's been fixed. I felt it needed a more recent review and a few more stars. Thanks for an excellent, purposeful addition to the sim!

Very great app but sadly it induced CTD, my group uninstalled the plug-in and landmarks and we again had no CTD.

Awesome addon. A couple of suggestions for the next update - maybe have an option to automatically shorten a commentary (maybe to stop playing after 2 or 3 sentences - many of them drag on for too long). Also a possible bug that may need fixing is the local radio stations - no matter where I am flying it only gives me stations from the Seattle/Portland area.

Requiring a Patreon subscription to be able to add more than one or two POI per day seems like shooting yourself in the foot. It takes VOLUNTARY time and effort by users to add/create new POIs. Adding POIs enhances the product functionality for all users, so why hamstring the product like this :/ Also, I spent over half an hour editing a new POI (that didn't have its own wiki page), only to be told that I had reached my daily limit only AFTER I hit the save button, preventing me from saving it and wasting all my time! You should be telling users they have reached the limit when they first hit the + button to create a new POI, not when they try to save the completed form! On the whole, I feel like I am being punished for trying to add POIs :/

having a problem with adding discoveries in new zealand, a lot of the pre defined text has invalid characters as it includes the word Māori and the ā fails validation but you can't edit the pre written words....

Still love the program though, its a 5 star app

Realy great add-on for MSFS 2020. I enjoy it very much and use it everytime. Also the feature of tuning in an music radio frequency gives it a thumbs up and a smile on my face.

The sound of the lady who is telling about the poi's could be a litte louder, especially if you view the surroundings outside the cockpit. Then the engine noice overruns the voice of the narrator and it's hard to follow, even with my headphones on.

Submitting interface is a mess, You really put effort in an article and then its deleted in the form. Daily limit is really annoying. A lot of airports missing.

Its a normally a great mod but now the limitations did become just ridiculous. First you could publish five landmarks per day for free (which was already on the low side) and now its only two per day (which is just not enough). Why?

Bushtalkradio site is incompatible with AUDIO COMPRESSOR browser extension. I use the extension to even out wildly variating audio volumes across different sites, videos etc but BTR site fails to produce audio when used with Audio Compressor to make the very low volume audible without dropping MSFS master down to 10.

Are you using a content manager and directory that is different from the native MSFS mod directory?

I have installed bushtalk radio today and ran into the same or similar problem as you describe. I was using MSFS addon linker with a mod directory located on a different drive than my sim installation and the sim was crashing every time I tried to load into a flight. Moving the bushtalk radio client into the native mod directory, bypassing the need for the addon linker, has fixed the issue completely. At least so far. Thankfully, because this seems like it will be an awesome addition to the tentative around the world that I'm planning.

This is a bug with MSFS, something Asobo will have to fix.

Love it love it! One thing though -- can you make the in-game toolbar icon a tad smaller? It's a little larger than the standard ones in the toolbar and in fact is so big that it goes outside of the bounding box of the toolbar icon container.
